It matured in a second-fill 200-litre ex-bourbon American oak barrel – building structure, softness and the quiet authority of good wood – before moving to an aged Muscat cask for its finish.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThat final period in Muscat oak is where M874 became itself. The cask has given the whisky an extraordinary richness – layering dried fruits, golden syrup and a deep vinous sweetness through a spirit that was already beautifully composed.
